Alpujarras Day Trip Itinerary
At 9 am, we'll meet at Plaza de Mariana Pineda. There we'll get on a bus and leave the city center behind to head for the Alpujarra Granadina, a region stretching along the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada famous for its beautiful and charming villages.
The first stop will be at the Nasrid bridge of Tablate, where we'll begin to learn about the links of these lands with Muslim culture. We'll remember the times of the Reconquest as we approach Lanjarón, a village famous for its miraculous waters. We'll head to its castle to further delve into the relationship of the Arabs with Alpujarra.
Afterward, we'll head to an incredible viewpoint that will offer us one of the best views of the Poqueira Valley, the Guadalfeo Valley and the Sierra Nevada. Time for some photos!
We'll continue the excursion through Alpujarra towards Pórtugos to visit one of its great tourist attractions, the Fuente Agria spring and the Chorreón waterfall. You'll be able to taste this freshwater while admiring the ochre and reddish tones of the stone that surround the waterfall as well as the hundreds of ferns and mosses of this beautiful environment.
After a brief visit, we'll continue our journey to Capilerilla, where we'll see what rural life is like today. We'll stroll through fruit orchards, see an old washhouse and learn about the local architecture.
The last stop of the day will be in Pampaneira, one of the highest altitude villages in Spain and Europe. We'll leave you an hour and a half of free time to have lunch and explore this beautiful village full of white houses at your own pace.
Then, we'll return to the bus and finish the excursion between 4 and 5 pm, arriving back at the starting point in Granada.
