Granada's Arab Legacy Tour
Do you want to discover how people lived in the south of Spain before the Reconquest of the Catholic Monarchs? On this tour through the Granada of Al-Andalus, we'll visit the palace of Dar al-Horra, the house of Chapiz, and El Bañuelo to learn all about the Arab legacy in the city.
Granada's Arab Legacy Tour
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Puerta de Elvira and set off on our tour of the Granada of Al-Andalus. During the tour, we'll delve into the Muslim culture in Granada and visit three important monuments that will allow us to discover what life was like in this city between the eighth and fifteenth centuries.
We'll first visit the palace of Dar Al-Horra, considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Did you know that the mother of Sultan Boabdil lived here? We'll walk through the different rooms of the palace and we'll explain how this monument was built on the ruins of another Nasrid construction belonging to Mohamed I.
Afterwards, we'll walk to the Chapiz house, a perfect example of Arab architecture from the 16th century. Visiting this building, which mixes Arab and Christian elements, we'll discover how Al-Andalus influenced the constructions that were carried out after the Reconquest of the Catholic Monarchs.
We'll leave the Chapiz house and walk to the Bañuelo, one of the best-preserved Arab baths in Spain. We'll talk about the Zirid dynasty that ordered this public space to be built and we'll explain how the rituals of physical and spiritual cleansing were organized here.
After a three-hour tour, we'll end our tour of the Granada of Al-Andalus and say our goodbyes outside the Bañuelo.
